Mini Neck Lift in Atlanta, GA
As we get older, one of the first areas to show signs of aging besides around our eye area is often our neck. The skin can begin to loosen, causing sagging and wrinkles, making the neck appear less toned. Most people only focus on their face as part of their routine skincare regime when they should be including their neck as well.
The good news is that there are cosmetic treatments available today that can help restore the tone of the skin on your neck and make you look refreshed and younger-looking.

Schedule A ConsultationWhat Is A Mini Neck Lift?
A mini neck lift is a less invasive option than a full neck lift and is a good option for individuals who are noticing some sagging skin, wrinkling, or other early signs of aging on their neck.
This operation involves eliminating excess skin and possibly tightening the muscles underneath to give your neck a smoother, firmer appearance without having to undergo a full neck lift.
Who Is A Candidate For A Mini Neck Lift?
Good candidates for a mini neck left are normally over the age of 30 and are looking for a more contoured jawline and a smoother, more slender-looking neck.
Individuals who are slender everywhere else but the excess skin or fat in their neck area (double chin) makes them appear heavier and older are good candidates for a mini neck lift. This surgery can get rid of a double chin or unattractive excess skin that hangs down that is often called a turkey wattle.
Some patients combine a facelift with a mini neck lift and sometimes also a chin augmentation to get the results they desire. A facelift by itself cannot correct the signs of aging that appear on the lower face and neck. A full neck lift might be necessary for an individual who has a significant accumulation of excess fat or skin in their neck area, such as someone who has just lost a tremendous amount of weight. A mini neck lift can often provide the perfect amount of correction for those with only a moderate amount of loose skin or fat on their neck.
Procedure Steps
To reduce or correct the signs of aging in the lower area of your face and neck, you will need the help of a board-certified, skilled cosmetic surgeon who is an expert in facial anatomy and restorative cosmetic surgery.
A mini neck lift can take anywhere between one and two hours, depending on the complexity of repairs that need to be made. The usual steps of a neck lift include:
You will meet with Dr. Angelina so she can perform a thorough analysis of your lower face and neck to determine the areas to target for correction. She will consider things like loose skin, excess fat deposits, and muscle banding (platysma), which is where the two muscles that run vertically down the neck begin to stick out because of the natural aging process.
You will be given some type of anesthesia to keep you comfortable during the procedure, and depending on the complexity.
Dr. Angelina will create a small incision under the chin and tighten the neck muscles if needed. She will then use the incision to perform liposuction and eliminate any excess fat from under the chin and the neck.
Dr. Angelina will make a small incision behind the ears to trim away any excess skin. Depending on the extent of correction needed, it is sometimes necessary to extend the incision to in front of the ears.
The remaining skin will be lifted, pulled tighter and secured in place with sutures. Sometimes, temporary drains will be put in to help keep swelling to a minimum.
Patients need to wear a snug-fitting compression garment for around four to six weeks to help mitigate swelling and keep the treated areas secure after a mini neck lift.
Recovery
The recovery after a mini neck lift vs. neck lift (standard) is normally a bit shorter and less painful. The incisions are smaller and less invasive, so the delicate tissues of the neck endure less trauma. Depending on the extent of the correction done, patients normally take at least a week off from work and their normal activities.
Dr. Angelina will schedule follow-up visits for you about 24 hours after your surgery and again at one week, etc. so she can check on how your healing is progressing. If she does not use stitches that dissolve, she will remove them when she determines they are no longer needed.
Most patients do not experience a great deal of pain after a mini neck lift and only experience mild discomfort, tightness in their neck, minor bruising, and some swelling around their ears and under their chin. Dr. Angelina may prescribe some pain medication that can be used for the first few days until the discomfort naturally dissipates.
To make sure your recovery goes smoothly, it is important to follow the aftercare directions Dr. Angelina provides. She will give you tips and strategies for making your recovery as fast and comfortable as possible. Sleeping with your head elevated for a few days can keep the swelling down to a minimum and help you avoid discomfort.
Dr. Angelina takes care to mitigate any signs of scarring from a mini neck lift. While scarring is almost unavoidable after an incision is made, these scars are normally not visible because they are carefully camouflaged behind the ears or in the hairline.
Results
You will be able to notice definite improvements when comparing your mini neck lift before and after pictures, as your neck will be smoother and more toned, and you will no longer have excess skin or fat hanging down under your chin. You will have a more defined jawline and a clearer delineation between your jaw and neck without any jowls.
Sadly, no one can stop the natural progression of aging, but the results of your mini neck lift should last between five and eight years. This length of time will depend on how well you maintain your current weight and take care of the skin on your face and neck using a proper skin care regime.
Some patients combine a mini neck lift with dermal fillers to achieve the look they desire.

The entire staff are very kind! Dr. Angelina shows you listens to your needs and treats you like a human and not a number. While she is doing the procedure (I was having Botox for the first time) she used humor as well as explained what she was doing and the reasoning behind it. She is also very encouraging and THAT means more to me than anything.
